Dubčany lies about 6 km south of Litovel, and the village's first written mention dates to 1342. The village has preserved its old Slavic circular layout, with houses forming a ring around the village green. The entrance to the village is still called Brána.

On the village green stands the chapel of St Isidore, patron saint of farmers, built in 1869 on the site of an older chapel. Dubčany is part of the parish in neighbouring Cholina, where the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands; the church is mentioned as early as 1326.
