The municipality of Slatinky lies about 9 km north of Prostějov. There is a kindergarten in the village. The municipal office hall hosts cultural events.

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1247. It has a chapel dedicated to Saints John and Paul and a memorial to the victims of the world wars. The hill Velký Kosíř, 442 m above sea level, lies within its cadastral area and forms part of the Velký Kosíř Nature Park, designated in 2000.
