Tovéř lies at the foot of the Nízký Jeseník range, below Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc. The village is between Dolany and Samotišky.

Tovéř is first mentioned in writing in 1203, in a charter issued by the Moravian Margrave Vladislav Jindřich. In Tovéř, on the village green, stands the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, dating from 1844. At the entrance from Olomouc stands the 1880 Column of the Holy Trinity, protected as a cultural monument. Beside the original road between Samotišky and Dolany, a wayside shrine from the second half of the 18th century stands on raised ground near Tovéř.
